Terms of Service

1. Scope

These terms contain general rules for our website and specific rules for the language exchange platform. Sections that refer to the language exchange platform apply only to that platform.

2. Website and Contact Forms

When you submit a contact form, provide true and relevant information. Do not impersonate others, send spam, interfere with the website or submit forms in bulk by automated means.

3. Language Exchange Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity to use account-based language exchange features. If you contact us on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

4. Account and Google Sign-In

The language exchange platform uses Google sign-in. Keep your information accurate; you are responsible for activity under your account. We may restrict, suspend or terminate an account we reasonably believe is misused, impersonated or in breach of these terms.

5. Service

We provide information about living in Taiwan, support enquiries for companies' international employees, and language exchange features: finding people, invitations, contact exchange, blocking and reporting. We do not guarantee matches, replies, learning outcomes or the safety of meeting in person.

6. Your Content

You keep the rights to content you provide, and you allow us to store, display, transmit and process it as needed to run the service, for example showing your public profile in listings, delivering your invitation messages, and reviewing records when handling support requests and reports, including descriptions and attachments submitted with a report. Your content must not infringe anyone's rights or break the law.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You must not engage in any of the following:

• Harassment, threats, sexual messages, unwanted sexual advances or other disturbing contact.
• Hate, discrimination, demeaning groups of people or encouraging violence.
• Scams, payment requests, investment solicitation, impersonation or materially false information.
• Sharing another person's photos, personal data, conversations or contact details without consent.
• Illegal activity, bulk commercial outreach, spam, automated scraping or interfering with the platform.
• Getting around blocks, reports, suspensions, feature restrictions or other safety measures in any way.

8. Blocking, Reporting, Suspension and Removal

You can block other members. Once you do, neither of you will see the other on the platform. You can lift a block later. You can report a member who has invited you or with whom you have matched. A report cannot be withdrawn once sent, and it also blocks that member.

We may review conduct based on reports, system records or other credible information, and may remove content, unpublish profiles, restrict features, suspend accounts or delete accounts. We may keep the records we need for disputes, safety or legal requests.

While an account is suspended, it is hidden from other members and most features stop working, including invitations, reporting and blocking. You can still view your own data, appeal, or delete the account. A suspension has no set end date; whether it is lifted depends on the outcome of an appeal. If an account is suspended for breaking the rules, or is deleted while suspended, we may prevent the same person from registering again, with no time limit. Section 5 of the Privacy Policy explains what we keep to do this.

9. Meeting in Person

If you meet another member in person, assess the risks yourself: choose a public place, tell someone you trust, and avoid money transfers, loans or handing over important documents. We do not organise or guarantee any meeting.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error free, that all member information is true, or that third-party services will remain available. We are not liable beyond what the law requires for interactions between members, meetings in person, third-party platforms or causes outside our control.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms for service, legal or safety reasons. We will announce material changes on the website or in the service and ask for your consent again where needed. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, Republic of China. For questions about these terms, privacy, reports or your account, contact us through the website or at service@taiwanlifebuddy.com.
